Lenten Calendar

advent-calendarYou know how there are Advent calendars for the 24 days leading up to Christmas in December? Every day you open a little cardboard door to find a piece of chocolate waiting for you.

For Lent, the season of sacrifices when many people give up candy or treats, there should be a similar 40-day calendar. Except instead of candy, every day you open up a little cardboard door to find…nothing.

  1. Interesting…or there could be an empty box with a message inside asking you to sacrifice something of yours by putting it in the calendar, then destroying the calendar at the end of the 40 days. For example, “Day 12: Please give up one tooth.” For the rest of Lent you’d know your left canine tooth was in little box number 12, but you couldn’t take it back and be whole again. At the end of the month, you’d incinerate the calendar (or throw it off a bridge, feed it to pigs, mail it to a random address, shoot it with a Warlock Class Destroyer https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warlock_class_destroyer), and you’d feel so good because of the sacrifices you made.
