Jamey,
What a fitting tribute to Buzz. In your writing, you captured the essence and character of the man we knew and loved. He was comfortable in his own skin.... a quality few can claim.
I fondly recall meeting Buzz for the first time. I knew he would be a great match with Janet/Grandma. Thru their marriage, she got a new husband and partner, and the rest of our family was blessed with the addition of the entire Dunn Family. What a wedding gift!

Jamey --
This brought tears to my ears. Jason (9) talks often of Grandpa Buzz and I am so glad we had him in our lives.
You are a beautiful writer.
Love, Aunt Mary

Jamey,

I loved that you saw him as your grandfather. He did everything the way things are supposed to be done...the gentle way, the kind way, the honorable way. How blessed were we to have him as a role model of a really good man. It would have touched him deeply to know how much you loved him. He loved being loved. I think though, as one quiet man to another, he did know.

This was a beautiful tribute to Buzz, and you made me cry.

That's amazing that your grandparents are in such good shape. I don't think mentioned above that Buzz was still running 6-minute miles into his 60s. He had never really gotten sick until he was 80, when pneumonia in both lungs hit him pretty hard.

I hope you can keep your grandfather off the roof so he can keep going strong! :)

Thanks, Penelope. Buzz was so good to adopt his second family as his own.

Buzz sounds great. :) He should be a MC in one of your future stories. ;) That's great how well he meshed with the family and took care fo your grandmother.

I'm lucky to get to see grandparents on my dad's side this coming weekend. They're in their mid-80's and still going very strong. My grandfather still climbs on the roof for the gutters, even though we take the ladder from him on a regular basis. My grandmother still mows the lawn and makes Sunday dinners for the extended family on Sundays. :)
