The weather has been beautiful in St. Louis the past few days, and as a result, a multitude of joggers have found their way to Forest Park.
As always, some female joggers catch my eye, and I’ve noticed a pattern: My eyes linger on women wearing retro soccer shorts.
I’ve been trying to figure out why. Is it the catchy design? Do the white lines at the bottom of the shorts accent something special about a woman’s figure?
Today it hit me. I like retro soccer shorts because I grew up watching (okay, staring at) women playing soccer.
I’ve played soccer since I was about 5, so I’ve been walking past women’s soccer games for years. I even refereed them for several years. I’ve pretty much always had a thing for female soccer players.
So now those positive memories are rising to the surface every time I see these shorts.
I’m sure I’m not alone. Are there certain items of clothing on the opposite sex that intrigue you in less-than-obvious ways?
Two words: bolo ties.
Really? Where does that stem from?
No, not really. I actually just tried to think of the tackiest article of men’s clothing just to make you wonder if I was serious. Couldn’t help myself.
However, if it was a bolo tie/mullet combo, I might reconsider…
The bolo/mullet combo is known to be completely irresistible.
I like long-sleeved oxford shirt sleeves unbuttoned and rolled up to the forearm.
Does that stem from Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper?
“I’m a stylish American; I’ve been pretending to like soccer since 2004.”
A backward fitted hat. Mind you, most guys I meet now who sport the backward hat are douches (because 30 is far too old to sport such an accessory), but they still catch my eye. I’m also a sucker for Adidas sandals because I’ve always liked athletes and athletes wear those sandals (after removing the cleats they need for their super-athletic and competitive games of course).
