A drink getting thrown in a man’s face goes back to the old country. In the “dignified” and “socially elite” circles,a woman who found a man offensive or a “bore” would do so,but only after “mannerly’ tactics would fail.

In the lower classes,it would probably have been more immediate,especially if the man were a “lowlife” type,with no manners at all.

The movies have made great use of it,because people even today find it funny. (Except the person who posted the topic. A drink in the face says even more than words in a confrontation such as these that I’ve mentioned.

Having to buy your own drink is such an insult that it warrants being able to throw that drink in a man’s face? Hmmmm, not sure I agree with that one…

Yeah, I’ve done it. Though, it’s usually a pour over the head motion rather than an actual throw in the face. It was never alcohol, which stands to reason, as I do not drink. I think a woman would find it easier to waste a drink because she isn’t the one paying for it. And if she is, he deserves to have a drink in his face.

I seen a drunkish person pour a beer on some girl in a club before. Well, sort of saw it since I’m short. My view in a sea of taller people limited the occurance, but I saw bits of it to piece it together. Boy, was she piss. I think she poured back. Poor girl. And sad, sad alcohol.

Just last weekend I was out with friends and had a beer spilled on me by another girl. I was sitting by a guy friend and this drunk girl (whom we had just met through another friend) apparently had her eye on him. I didn’t see it happen, but my guy friend says she reached over and hit my beer, intentionally spilling it on me. Of course, this wasn’t in a date setting … but I still find it very ridiculous, especialy cause I’m not even remotely involved with this guy (he has a girlfriend, but it’s not me).
