It seems that everyone has different tastes when it comes to the type of music they listen to while they’re trying to work. Some people like classical music, their favorite bands, the latest catchy pop songs, or even the background “music” of the TV.

Me? I work in complete silence.

Yep, no music at all. Not even when writing a casual blog entry. I can’t write when someone else’s words are in the air.

So what music helps you be more productive or even more creative? What type of music gets in the way?

  1. I completely agree with you. I don’t understand how having additional noise can help you focus or be more productive! I can hardly have a conversation with music on, and I certainly can’t have a conversation with the TV on–that’s even more distracting for me!

    • I need music to work, because if it isn’t there, half my brain will be thinking about something other than my work. If I have music, that part of my brain seems to be occupied to let the rest of me focus on my work.
