I use canvas bags when I go grocery shopping. I recycle. I turn off the light when I leave the room.
But up until recently, I wasn’t doing a great job with water conservation. Sure, I turn off the faucet when I brush my teeth. That’s not enough.
Then, exactly one month ago, Stephen Colbert revealed a new way to save the environment: peeing in the shower.
That’s right. As reported here, IFL Science reports that if every American took away one flush every day by peeing in the shower instead, we could conserve 185 gallons of water a year. That’s a considerable relieve on the US water system.
You don’t want to know what I do in the shower, and I don’t want to know what you do in the shower (well, most of you). But I will say that I’ve done my patriotic duty over the last month, and I’ll continue to do so until someone tells me otherwise.
