What’s Your Favorite New Show?

Fall TV season is in full swing now, and I’m always intrigued to hear which new shows are worth checking out. Here are the new shows I’ve enjoyed for more than 1 episode so far:

The Mayor

I’ve enjoyed The Mayor through 2 episodes so far. It’s basically about a young, post-college kid who runs for mayor of a town on a whim…and wins. While not much has been laugh-out-loud funny so far, it’s well written, and the characters are likable. I’ll give it a few more episodes to see if the humor really kicks in.

The Deuce

I don’t take on many “serious” shows these days, but HBO produces great shows, and some of the folks behind The Wire are involved in The Deuce. It’s a fascinating look at New York in the 70s, including some thing I don’t really want to see, but perhaps it’s good to see the seedy underbellies of things from time to time. I’m not 100% hooked on any ongoing plots yet, but the characters and setting are enough to keep me coming back for more.

Apparently that’s it! What brand-new television debuts have you enjoyed so far?

  1. The Deuce is really good. I was skeptical with James Franco playing 2 roles, but it works. The Gifted has also been a pleasant surprise but not sure it will stay strong.

  2. I’ve fallen asleep twice trying to watch Ghosted. So that’s out. I enjoy the Orville so far, but it’s nothing ground breaking. Mindhunter is very good.
