Have You Ever Acted Like This After Drinking Coffee?

I’m one of those people who loves coffee-flavored things, but not coffee itself.

For example, I love the new Espresso M&Ms. I love coffee-flavored ice cream. And–getting closer to coffee itself–I love frappucinos and Thai iced coffee.

When I drink either of those last two, I’m super jittery for the next few hours. It’s a novel feeling a few times a year, but I can’t imagine feeling like that every day. If you’re a daily coffee drinker, is that how you feel every time you drink coffee?

I recently watched a “Conan in Italy” segment where Conan drinks some powerful espresso and goes a little bonkers. I found it quite amusing, and I thought you might too:

  1. I’ve been caffeine free for 5 years or so, so I’m sure if I had a coffee-type beverage (or a Coke) I would definitely feel my heart pounding and feel very jittery. If I eat chocolate after 3pm it’ll keep me up most of the night!

People who are used to caffeine don’t usually have the same effects, but let me tell you…withdrawal is a b&$@#. I had massive headaches for many days when I decided to give it up.

Conan is wired 24/7 so I’m not totally sure that was the caffeine. 😉

  2. With teaching this year, everyone suggested that I start drinking coffee to be more productive in my planning and grading hours before I start teaching. I’ve never been a huge coffee drinker. Well I listened a couple times, and I have never been less productive. I just get jittery and wired and distracted. It’s not pleasant when I’m trying to get stuff done sitting at a desk. I’ve switched to tea in the morning for caffeine instead.
