Pet Pleases #14-20

I’ve had the following pet pleases on my list of things to write about for a while, but I can never seem to get excited about devoting an entry blog entry to any one of them. They’re still worth mentioning, so I’m going to list them here. Trevor and Bryce get credit for two of them.

14. Putting on clothes fresh out of the dryer. Or just rolling around in them.

15. Getting a booth at a restaurant. Doesn’t this make you feel like a VIP?

16. When a good yawn on a flight clears your head. And makes you feel like you have super-hearing.

17. Stumbling upon a Seinfeld episode you’ve never seen. And you thought you had watched them all.

18. Bar bathrooms that are unexpectedly clean. The opposite being a fancy restaurant bathroom that is unexpectedly dirty.

19. When a stoplight turns green at the perfect time so you don’t have to slow down at all. You just saved yourself $0.0002 of gas.

20. Having a chapter of the book on tape you’re listening to end just as you arrive at your destination. Or song. Or podcast.

Let’s start the weekend on a good note: What’s your pet please of the week to share?

  1. I love pet pleases! There are a million possibilities, but my pet please of the week is having a pet who’s genuinely happy and excited to see you when you come home from work.

  2. Seeing something in the store, thinking about it for a day or two, and going back to find that it went on super sale. I scored a gorgeous red satin trench coat for $25. I could SLEEP in it, I love it so much!

    • Oo…good call. I wish there was a service that allowed for this. Like, on Orbitz you can have them e-mail you whenever the price of a flight dips under a set amount of money (or decreases at all). What if you could do that with clothes? I’d buy a lot more clothes, that’s for sure.

  3. Outings with an unexpected wood fire.
I love fire. Not like an arson or pyromaniac likes fire (I think?). I like that my dad taught me how to build a fire. That because of knowledge he gave me, I knwo what basic materials to keep in case I need to make fire.
I like what fire does to people. It’s Ancient. It’s Universal. It’s Primal. Joining around it’s light and warmth grants instant intimacy. People share things around a fire that they wouldn’t normally share.
I like that 95% of the time, I can get a fire started with basic materials. That I can provide the means for people to feel closer to each other.
So when I get to that outing, I am instantly comfortable, regardless of the temperature.
