Ladder Golf

What do you do when you go to the beach? One of the things my family does is play a game called ladder golf. I personally think it’s one of the best beach games because it involves a number of people, it requires very little physical activity or skill, and the games move quickly. Have you ever played it?

  1. No, what does it entail? Ladder golf that is.

I like beach volleyball and water sports. Something about the tanning part is a nice reminder of being on the beach. =)

    Cheers.

  2. I had a cousin on my dad’s side that made the ladders and balls for Christmas one year for each “family” in our immediate family (one for his brother and sister-in-law, one for my parents, one for my aunt and uncle, etc).

We took ours with us one year when we went to visit my mom’s side of the family. We said we brought ladder golf, but they had never heard of it. However, when we took it out of the trunk, my cousin looked at it and yelled, “Horse Balls!!!”

Apparently this is what they call it in Iowa.

  3. We love “redneck golf”, which is what we call it. Mom went all out a couple years ago and bought a fancy schmancy Eddie Bauer edition and we take it everywhere. It gets really competitive and we’ve even tossed around the idea of having trophies made.

  4. Great entry. I enjoy the alternative names for this game: RED Neck Golf – and especially Horse Balls. But I also enjoyed the video. The Atlantic Ocean was so calm and then to see Uncle Bill walk through the game. Did anyone enjoy the back side of Doug and Kevin? I think the homemade versions of this game are better than the store bought version – but any version is the best. It is a great game. Wish you had a video of Grandma playing the game and throwing the balls backwards 🙂
