Movember Confession

I have a confession.

I shaved my mustache before November 30.

I know, I know–I’m a disgrace. Here’s what happened. It’s not a good excuse, but there is a reason.

Basically, the mustache was the first thing people noticed about me, and not in a good way. It wasn’t a strong enough mustache that people thought, “Hey, that’s a nice new look.” Rather, it was weak enough that people thought, “Does he realize that he has that thing on his lip?” I’ve never seen more double takes in such a short time span.

Plus, it wasn’t serving the purpose of the mustache, which was to raise awareness for men’s cancer. Specifically, it may have raised awareness for people who asked me about the mustache, but the vast majority of people who saw it were just random people who had no idea.

So I shaved it. And it was glorious to get rid of that thing. Best. Shave. Ever.

Before I shaved it, I took a photo for all of you to enjoy, followed by a photo immediately afterwards.

Thanks for your understanding. If you’re a guy, I hope you did a self-check this month for testicular cancer and scheduled a doctor appointment for a prostate check if you’re 40+. If you’re a girl, I hope you reminded a man in your life to do one or both of those exams as well. Catching a lump early could save his life.
