This guest entry was written by best friend and reader T-Mac when he discovered there was no new blog entry this morning (I’m sorry–I’m a little preoccupied with Euphoria shipping right now!).
The early JSB readers roused from our slumbers, sleepily dressed, defrosted our cars, and headed off to work as if it were any other day. We sat down at our computers, the smell of highlander grogg coffee happily wafting into our nostrils, and the gentle delight in knowing it was 6:37 and that work doesn’t technically begin until 7 danced merrily through our collective brains.
We all opened our morning websites–espn.com, yahoo! fantasy football, hatsforcats.com, and jameystegmaier.com. Ah, this week’s Richie Incognito meeting was cancelled, we read. Perhaps this whole embarrassing Dolphins saga is nearly behind us. As we closed ESPN and turned our attention to the JSB, WHAT? No…no update? The Gandalf vs. Magneto thing was yesterday!
Wait, it is a weekday, right? We frantically checked our calendars, then ran to the window, threw it open, and shouted down to the young peasant in the street below, “What’s to-day, my fine fellow?”
“To-day?” replied the boy. “Why, Wednesday.”
“It’s Wednesday!” we thought. “I haven’t missed it!”
As the tears streamed down our cheeks, we returned to our seats. Gingerly, but with grit and determination, we refreshed our browsers. Still a very perplexing picture of Sir Ian Mckellan in a t-shirt, which destroys the very foundation of how Gandolf should ever dress.
“Noooooooo!” We sceam to the sky…to anyone…to the kind young gentleman from IT who is already at someone else’s computer making sure his day & time settings are correct due to this same issue. We all embrace as the tears flow like the waterfall below a newly broken dam. “We’ll check back in an hour, we agree.”
And so the morning goes…a morning wrought with disappointment and broken traditions. Only time will tell if these wounds will heal.
