My Favorite Songs of 2017

As the years pass, I’ve noticed that I listen to music less and less. I work in silence, and when I have the opportunity for noise, I’m either listening to podcasts or YouTube videos.

So this year’s list is all over the place. A few of these songs are from bands I love, like The XX and Generationals. Several others are catchy songs released this year (Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, etc).

And then the others…they’re all over the place. I know the Led Zeppelin song is on here because of the latest Thor movie. The Detroiters theme is here because of the show Detroiters. I only have the faintest inklings how I discovered the others.

What are your top 3 favorite songs you discovered this year, and how did you discover them?

Here is last year’s list.

  1. Wait? Led Zeppelin is there because of Wonder woman? Shouldn’t that be because of Thor? That’s the reason it’s in my playlist.
My top 3 are Run by the Foo Fighters, Castle on the Hill by Ed Sheeran, and Feel it Still by Portugal. The man.

  2. It appears I need to broaden my musical horizons… I’ve only heard of a few of those! Here is my top 3:

    – Ophelia by The Lumineers. One of my favorite bands. Short and sweet with a really catchy chorus.

    – Take it All Back 2.0 by Judah and the Lion. Has a very similar sound as Mumford & Sons, another of my favorite bands. Not terribly deep lyrics but the build-up to the song’s climax would make M&S proud.

    – Million Reasons by Lady Gaga. I first heard it during the Super Bowl halftime show and I very impressed by the way she sounded without all the bells and whistles found in most of her hits.
