Last week I posted about a long-time issue I’ve had with wobbly desktop monitors. With your advice in hand, I proceeded to purchase an Echogear dual-monitor mount for my Uplift sit-stand desk. I just assembled it a few hours ago, and I’ve been using it since then to excellent results.
My left monitor is rock-solid now–it’s hardly wobbling at all. My right monitor is better, but still not perfect. Unlike the left monitor, the right had shorter screw-holes, thus requiring a gap divider, and I think it’s resulting in some wobbles. I’ll probably find some ways to improve the fit over time.
The device has resulted in an unexpected perk: I have so much more desk space. As you can see in the photo, because the monitors aren’t resting on big, flat stands on the desk, I can now use that space for sticky notes, brainstorming papers, and all the other random stuff that ends up on my desk. It’s awesome.
It’s also nice that I can easily adjust the position of the monitors at any time. I’ll probably find an ideal position and not move them much after that, but it’s nice to have the option.
The only downside I’ve encountered so far (aside from a lengthy installation process) is that I can’t seem to remove the “leg” portion of my old monitor stands. You can see them suspended from the monitors in the photo. It’s not really an issue, as they’re not blocking anything, but I’d like to detach them at some point.
Overall, I appreciate the suggestions, and I’m really happy with the early results. Thank you!
What’s the last piece of technology that made your life easier, happier, or more efficient?
I’m sure others already suggested it, but did you consider mounting the screens directly to the wall? I have a single widescreen monitor that I mounted years ago and I love it. My main reason was to free up my desktop space so I’d have more room for building board game foamboard inserts 😃
I considered it, but I don’t think wall mounting works for an adjustable desk.
Get those wires under control; good god man!
🙂
Does UPLIFT not offer a proprietary solution? We have Fully Jarvises, and they’re pretty great!
Not that I’m aware of, Jesse. I’m glad you found a good solution!
I actually just got a new large monitor and the wobbling was driving me crazy. I pushed my desktop speakers against the back of the monitor and the wobbling stopped! Haha!
Great solution!
