I’m struggling to find words to express how I feel about the attack on the US Capitol today. It’s not at all because I have mixed feelings–the actions of these “protestors” (i.e., domestic terrorists) are appalling, disgusting, hypocritical, and incredibly undemocratic–but it’s just a lot to digest.
It’s shocking, yet it’s also not a huge surprise that Trump, Fox News, the various Republican senators and representatives, and their supporters who have challenged the validity of an election won by over 7 million votes has resulted in this level of crazy.
I hope you can’t look at yourself in the mirror tonight without the greatest shame. You did this. You laid the foundation for this coup attempt. You are culpable for your words. You condoned white supremacy, and you created a horde of terrorists who fought the police and broke into the US Capitol (all the while saying you’re pro-police and pro-democracy).
My only hope is that this is a reality check for you if supported Trump or propagated these conspiracy theories about the election being “stolen.” Yes, you personally may not have stormed the Capitol today. But there are dire consequences to your words, votes, and actions. Take responsibility and be better, starting now.

These were not “protestors.” Call them what they are – terrorists.
