Have You Ever Googled Yourself?

I can’t recall a time that I’ve Googled myself, but I recently learned the results of such a search when I saw this on Twitter (Dusty runs a fan channel for Stonemaier Games, and he was looking for my personal blog):

Wingspan designer Elizabeth Hargrave followed up with a clever quip:

Today I thought I’d help Google with its search results by briefly answering these autocorrect queries:

  • net worth: I’ve done my best to invest and save over the years, and I’m fortunate that Stonemaier Games has done well. I’m not comfortable answering this question with full transparency, but I’ll say that I continue to cut my own hair.
  • games: Yes, Google, I make games. 🙂 I’ve either designed or co-designed Viticulture, Euphoria, Scythe, Charterstone, Tapestry, Red Rising, and the upcoming Rolling Realms, all published by Stonemaier Games.
  • blog: I write two blogs; this one and my Stonemaier Games blog.
  • wife: I don’t have a wife, and I’ve never been married. I’ve been dating Megan for a little over 2 years.
  • Wikipedia: Do I have a Wikipedia page? I didn’t think so…and I don’t. If you search Wikipedia for my name, it takes you to a page about Scythe.
  • YouTube: I have a YouTube channel on which I talk about my favorite mechanisms in every game I play.
  • Kickstarter: I’ve run 8 Kickstarter campaigns, most of which were tabletop game related. I stopped using Kickstarter in 2015 after Scythe successfully funded, though I continue to frequently back projects.
  • BGG: My BoardGameGeek page is here.
  • Wingspan: I’m the publisher of Wingspan, not the designer (that’s Elizabeth Hargrave), though I had fun working with her during the development process.

Do autofill results appear when you Google yourself? If so, what’s your favorite?

  1. Ahhhh, the anonymity of having a common name. I don’t have a strong web presence anyway, so unsurprisingly all of the search results for my name are dominated by women far more outwardly successful than I am. Musicians, lawyers, writers, models, real estate agents, actresses, etc. Even using my maiden name turned up a neurosurgeon and a PR director for an MLB team! Proud to see so many women out there kicking ass, taking names, and making it easier for the rest of us to fly under the radar!
