Have You Watched “Killing It”? (My Thoughts)

When NBC’s streaming network, Peacock, started promoting a half-hour comedy about killing snakes in Florida, I wasn’t sure I’d be tuning it. But then I heard that it stars the excellent Craig Robinson and decided to give it a try. I’m glad I did.

On the surface, Killing It is a show about two new friends, Craig and Jillian (played by the delightful Claudia O’Doherty, also featured recently in Our Flag Means Death), who work together to earn a bounty by killing large pythons in Florida.

Now, I’m generally not a fan of snakes, specifically unexpected snakes. If I know where they are at all times, that’s fine. But it also doesn’t bother me to see them on screen.

But the show ends up only partially being about pythons. In many ways, it’s more about scrappy entrepreneurship sprinkled with a dose of parenthood, siblings, and friendship. It also features a broad spectrum of humor, ranging from Craig nailing a snake to his hand to everything that hopeful, optimistic Jillian says.

If you subscribe to Peacock and any of this sounds interesting to you, I’d recommend checking out Killing It. We have a few episodes left in season one, and I look forward to all of them.

If you’ve watched Killing It, what did you think?

  1. Watching based on your recommendation and taste..
Definitely not for children, but I was laughing througb the first two episodes. As a small business owner, brother, and with lost family members, it definitely hits in good ways.
