Have You Watched Andor? (My Thoughts)

Over the last month, we’ve let episodes of Andor accumulate so we could watch a bunch of them all at once. I’m not sure that was the right strategy, as each episode packs a punch (in a good way) that makes me want to spread them out a bit.

Andor is set in the Star Wars universe, a world that is seamlessly engrained into every aspect of the show, to the point that I quickly stopped thinking about it as a Star Wars show. It’s simply a story that happens to take place in that universe.

The dialogue in Andor may be the best of any Star Wars movie or show. It’s so sharp, and it helps every actor shine (the acting is great on its own too).

Also, the settings in Andor are stunning. I’m sure there’s plenty of magic happening behind the scenes, but as far as I can tell, significant portions of the show were shot on location–everything looks incredibly real. (A quick Google search confirms this suspicion.)

I’ve buried the lead a bit, because the best part of Andor so far is episode 6. That also happens to be the most recent episode we watched, but it was so good that I knew it was time to write about the show after watching it. I don’t want to spoil anything about it, so I’ll just say if you were considering Andor, watch through episode 4. It’s really that good, to the point that it feels like the climax of a movie that began in the first episode.

What do you think of Andor so far? What’s your favorite episode?
