Have You Watched “The Resort”? (My Thoughts)

I started off very tepid on Peacock’s half-hour show “The Resort”, but a few episodes in, I was completely hooked.

The Resort follows a young married couple as they vacation at a nice resort in Yucatan, Mexico. Instead of simply relaxing by the pool, they instead try to solve a cold-case mystery from 15 years in the past.

The show has plenty of twists and turns that I won’t spoil here. What I can say, though, is that I love how well the show keeps you guessing without distorting the truth.

For example, I’m sure you’ve seen a show where drama is heightened by a character who acts like a true antagonist for multiple episodes. All evidence clearly points to the character being bad…and then suddenly the show reveals that they’ve been good the whole time! Surprise! Yet it doesn’t hold up to any scrutiny if you go back and watch the previous episodes.

The Resort, however, shows you partial truths, misconceptions by the characters, and different perspectives, but it looking back, everything is quite real and relevant even if my assumptions turn out to be false.

I’m being intentionally vague because I really don’t want to spoil anything for you. I highly recommend the show if you’re looking for a half-hour mystery with some drama and humor (and other things I can’t mention).

I haven’t quite finished the show, but the comments are a spoiler-safe zone for the first 6 episodes. Let me know your thoughts if you’ve watched The Resort!
