Have You Watched the Sitcom “Ghosts”? (My Thoughts)

Easily one of the best and most charming sitcoms I’ve watched over the last few years–starting very recently–is Ghosts on Paramount Plus. If you loved the sweet, kind comedy of Parks & Rec, I think you’ll love Ghosts.

The premise is that a young couple (Samantha and Jay) suddenly inherits a huge old house in upstate New York. The house is occupied by a number of ghosts of people who died on the property over the last 500 years, and after hitting her head, Samantha discovers that she can see and talk to the ghosts.

This could easily be the premise of a horror movie, but here it’s a platform for comedy and sometimes truly moving character development. Many of the best jokes throughout the first season (that’s where we are now, though the second season is also available) play off the fact that Samantha can see and hear the ghosts, but Jay cannot.

The first season includes a robust 18 episodes, giving each character time to shine. They each have a backstory, a personality, and running jokes. You often forget that they’re ghosts, as they’re just human actors who occasionally walk through doors and never change costumes.

I love Ghosts, as does Megan. I’ve heard there’s a British version too, so we may need to check that out. Have you watched either?
