Have You Listened to the “Born to Love” Podcast?

I love talking about things I love, and I just as much love hearing other people talk about things they love. The internet (and the world) can be a pretty grumpy, dark place, so I really value those who seek to uplift and elevate.

I recently learned about a new podcast called Born to Love from Ellie Kemper (The Office and Kimmy Schmidt) and her friend Scott Eckert, and the second I learned about the premise, I subscribed on Spotify: Every week, Ellie and Scott host a guest who talks about something they love (often something unexpected). For example:

  • Justin Long talks about his love of gardening
  • Gail Simmons talks about her love of time travel fiction
  • Samantha Bee talks about her love of cats
  • Roz Chast talks about her love of leftovers

How amazing is that?! It’s essentially my “pet please” series, but as a podcast and with three very entertaining, uplifting people. If you need a pick-me-up sometime, I highly recommend it.

  1. Aww, this is delightful. I will look it up. My latest podcast discovery is called The Art of the Score (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/art-of-the-score/id1207181678), which I came to via Strong Songs (https://strongsongspodcast.com/). The episodes I was most interested in focused on the Star Wars soundtrack — the hosts delve deep into the various motifs (The Force Theme, Luke’s Theme, Vader’s Theme, etc…) and how John Williams uses and reuses these as an integral part of the storytelling. I rewatched the original trilogy recently to underscore this for myself — his music is so crucial to the experience of the films!
