This year for what I think is the first time, I’m coordinating a small holiday gathering for coworkers and their partners. I’m looking forward to it; hopefully it’s a good time.
The challenge, though, is that three of my coworkers don’t live in St. Louis and can’t join the festivities. I was struggling to find a way to make them feel included in the gathering (without burdening them with something like a Zoom live feed of the party).
A family member had a good suggestion that I send these coworkers a package that they could use to celebrate from afar on their own time. The party is at a unique cocktail bar in St. Louis, so I Googled “cocktail in a box” and found a ton of options for speciality cocktail packages delivered most places in the US.
I asked each coworker what their preferred base liquor is (or if they wanted a non-alcoholic option), and after I heard back from them, I looked through a bunch of options and tried to pick out packages that they might enjoy. They’ve arrived, and I don’t think anyone has partaken yet, but I’ll update this post if anyone enjoys a particular cocktail.
Have you seen or tried something like this for remote coworkers?
I really enjoyed your thougtfulness in including me! You can view a picture of what we tasted on Tuesday at this link:

We sipped a little of the whiskey, then tasted it with the dried orange snack, garlic & rosemary cashews, and and salted egg cereal chocolate, all one by one. Then we lit the included incense (cedar and tabunoki), let the new aromas settle in, and tasted everything with the whiskey again! It was a very fun tasting and I thank you for putting it together. We also compared this Japanese whisky to a favorite bourbon I had on hand, and I was blown away that I enjoyed the Japanese over the American whisky!
It’s lovely that you made a whole mini-event out of it! I’m glad you enjoyed the tasting and the whiskey itself. 🙂
