Survivor season 48 is upon us, and I’m very excited about it. But I may be even more excited about the recent announcements for Survivor 50, which they’re currently casting and will film later this year. Most notably, the biggest announcement is that after every episode of Survivor 48, fans can vote for several elements … Read more
Apple TV is crushing speculative fiction right now. From The Gorge (a movie) to seasons 2 of both Severance and Silo, most of what we’re watching in the evenings is on Apple TV. Severance season 2 is week-to-week right now, so we’re pausing it to watch Silo season 2, which wrapped up recently. Silo–a show … Read more
Apple TV’s new movie, The Gorge, is one of my favorite films of 2025 so far. It was completely off my radar, but I thought it was excellent on many levels. The Gorge is best watched with little knowledge, so here’s the pitch: Two elite snipers–total strangers to each other–are assigned to year-long solitary posts … Read more
February 20…today would have been Biddy’s 18th birthday! Perhaps my phone knew this, as the random cat wallpaper it chose for today was of Biddy. Biddy passed away in 2023 after a tough battle with cancer, but he’s still around me every day. I have photos and art of Biddy around the house, his favorite … Read more
Exactly 4 years ago today, I picked up a new Tesla Model 3 from a dealership in St. Louis. I think the car is fantastic. It still feels like I’m driving something from the future. It drives itself on highways, it knows who I am when I approach the vehicle, and it gets all the … Read more
I really enjoyed the Beast Games finale last week–no spoilers here, but wow, what a finish! I had some thoughts about how the show could improve for season 2, and instead of writing them down, I filmed a video about them. Let me know what you think!
It took me two months of reading every night for 45-60 minutes to finish Brandon Sanderson’s epic conclusion to the first half of the Stormlight Archives, Wind and Truth, but I finally did it! It was worth the time. Sanderson “cosmere” spans many books, and the Stormlight Archives have become the backbone of this literary … Read more
I’ve struggled my entire life to open jars with twist-off lids. Peanut butter, salsa, pickles, you name it…I’m so excited to open these jars, but it’s almost never easy to do so. No joke: I’ve hurt my arm, elbow, and wrist when trying to open jars. My parents taught me that the key is to … Read more
I love a well-designed, memorable reality competition show. Beast Games isn’t exactly that–not yet–but the sheer spectacle of it is impressive (especially with $5 million as the grand prize), and with a few tweaks it could be great. What the show does really well in the meantime, though, is inspire questions from the viewers: … Read more
Megan has been out of town for over 3 weeks on an epic adventure with her mother to Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. This isn’t the first time she’s traveled while I’ve stayed at home with Walter (and Biddy), as her love of travel surpasses mine, but it’s definitely the longest. Over the last few … Read more
