Apple TV is crushing speculative fiction right now. From The Gorge (a movie) to seasons 2 of both Severance and Silo, most of what we’re watching in the evenings is on Apple TV.
Severance season 2 is week-to-week right now, so we’re pausing it to watch Silo season 2, which wrapped up recently. Silo–a show about post-apocalyptic humans who live in a massive underground silo–has revealed a lot in a short amount of time, and I’m excited to see what comes next.
Severance also continues to evolve, both in answering questions and asking more. Even just in a few episodes it feels like they’ve covered a full seasons of content. My current theory about part of what’s going on is that the severed workers are using the numbers to defragment their own minds, addressing things like trauma and depression. But I have no idea why the technology in this world is so out of date.
The production and set design of both shows is incredible. I wonder how much space they needed to create these spaces.
Are you watching either Severance or Silo? What do you think?

Severance lost a bit of its magic for me this season, On one hand it’s revealing some stuff but I also feel that it slowed down. The fact that I was able to fall asleep during two of the episodes is a sign of this for me. I like your theory but there are too many things that don’t connect to me logically in this show even for the stuff we already know. I’ll keep watching for sure.
Haven’t watched Silo but when I looked at it it seemed like another Fallout-esqe affair which I grew a bit tired of.
I love Severance! Second season seems a little slow, but first season also started slow. I figured out the twist two episodes prior, so the reveal wasn’t shocking.
I called out the twist in Dexter Origins episode 2 too and I hadn’t even seen the original Dexter. We’re going through the original Dexter now.
I’ve only watched Silo in the background. It reminds me of Fallout, but I’d rather watch Fallout. The game Moon Colony Bloodbath looks like it’s going for the same humor.
I can definitely see the Silo-Fallout comparisons, each with their own aesthetic. I didn’t make that connection about Moon Colony Bloodbath–that should be fun!
I’m a huge fan of Severance. To me, it’s one of the best tv shows of the last decade. It’s just wonderful how they keep solving questions while gently raising new questions at the same time.
I was already a big fan of the first season but the second season is a whole new level of art and beauty. Every episode stands on itself and they are trying so many different things. Yesterday’s epidsode was so heart warming and heart breaking at the same time. It was a piece of art.
Mind you, I am a big fan of slow tv. I can see why some people think it’s too slow. For me, it is wonderful. Just like with The Bear, where the first specified of last season annoyed many people, and I thought it was one of the greatest episodes.
I’m so glad you’re connecting with Severance! We’re really enjoying it, though we’re behind by a few episodes.
