A month or so ago, I started making mocktails on a regular basis. I posted about this new hobby on Instagram, and I was surprised to hear from someone who follows my board game content there who happens to be starting a non-alcoholic wine company. They asked if I would be interested in trying a few of their first bottles, and I agreed.
Here’s a little secret: Despite my first published game being about the art and science of making wine, I’m not much of a wine drinker at all. White wine gives me headaches, and I associate red wine with church. I’ll have a few sips here and there, but I rarely drink it.
So when the bottles arrived from Norie a few weeks ago, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I opened the first bottle at cookbook club, and I was delighted by the smell and flavor of the beverage. It’s exactly what it sets out to be: It’s a sparkling wine that captures the fun of drinking wine (smelling it, sipping it, talking about the layers) without the alcohol. Brilliant!
We have 2 other bottles in our fridge, and I’m looking forward to trying the other flavor combinations (we’re saving them for special occasions).
Have you tried anything like this?
