For the longest time, my reading setup at night has been a wedge pillow on top of another pillow for the purpose of elevating my Kindle high enough so I don’t need to strain my neck to read it. This works fine, but it’s elaborate. Plus, Walter can’t get his nightly tummy time if there’s a pile of pillows in his way.
My wish was for a way to suspend my Kindle above my head using some sort of pulley system. That way it could always be in the correct position, hands free, Walter friendly.
So I was elated to find a flexible gooseneck tablet holder. It clamps to the back of our bed and holds the Kindle over my face (which is when I discovered that I can’t read the words if they’re too close–how odd!)
However, there was still a small issue: Whenever I reached up to touch the screen, the entire device jiggles for a few seconds afterwards, making it difficult to read. What I needed was a way to turn the page without touching the Kindle.
Enter this remote control page turner. It loosely attaches to the bottom right of the Kindle screen. Whenever I click the included remote device, the page turns.
The whole setup is delightful. It’s probably the weirdest for Megan, as I’m laying perfectly still next to her while pages turn seemingly on their on. Walter’s a big fan, as he gets all the tummy time he wants without me holding a Kindle over his whiskers. And I’m very happy–it’s the most relaxed I’ve ever been while reading.
What’s your reading setup?
Oh my gosh, this is hilarious but also completely makes sense for a cat owner. I still love my physical books in need most of the time, and it is a CHORE to deal worth the cat needs and cuddles while reading a physical book in bed. Walter is a lucky kitty! I usually shove mine to the side😆
I agree! I’m glad to have finally found a solution that works for both of us. 🙂
