Back in May I expressed my newfound love of Dropout.tv, particularly the show Game Changer. The premise of the show is that it’s a completely different game every time, with the contestants (typically 3 comedians) and the audience learning the rules as they play.
A friend recently started subscribing to Dropout, and I put together a list of my favorite Game Changer episodes. Part of the show is discovering the premise while watching, so I’ll just mention the titles and the seasons. I recommend watching these episodes, then watching all of season 7 (which is ongoing and consistently amazing), then going back and watching older episodes I didn’t mention.
- season 1: Game of Prizes
- season 2: Do I Hear $1?
- season 3: This is the Covid season, so I haven’t delved into it much (it’s a little like watching a Zoom call), but I’m open to suggestions!
- season 4: Secret Samta, Original Cast Recording, Race to the Bottom, Survivor 1 & 2
- season 5: Cool as a Cucumber, Name a Number, Escape the Greenroom, Battle Royale 1-4
- season 6: Bingo, Deja Vu, Pencils Down
- season 7: all episodes
Also, some episodes are spun off into entire series, including Make Some Noise and (newly announced) Crowd Control. It’s such a clever way to test ideas to see what works and has legs.
What are some of your favorite episodes that I missed?
If someone has any affinity at all for musicals, I think Official Cast Recording is a must watch. SO impressive and fun!
I’m watching it now–it’s so good!
