Our most recent Marvel shows included Ironheart (which we’ve finished) and Marvel Zombies (still a few episodes remain), so I thought I’d briefly share my thoughts.
Ironheart is in some ways a successor to Iron Man, though based on genius and grit instead of the backbone of extreme wealth. I really like how the show intermingles the effects of childhood trauma with technology and magic. Also, a few of the episodes are about heists, one of my favorite ficitional genres.
Marvel Zombies is about an alternate timeline in which zombies have taken over Earth. It’s particularly terrifying because they’ve infected many iconic superheroes and villains. That alone is a great premise. I like how the animation plus the alternate universe allows for Marvel to not pull any punches: There are major character deaths in every episode, which makes the stakes feel huge. You truly don’t know who will survive, opposed to most Marvel movies in which the superheroes rarely appear to be in any true danger.
