My Butterbeer Rankings

I spent a long weekend in Florida (Orlando and Tampa Bay) to visit Universal Studios and the beach, both highly recommend during cold St. Louis winters. I may have a few stories to share this week, but I thought I’d start with a quick one that I didn’t mention in today’s Stonemaier Games post about awesome customer experiences.

I love to try different food and drinks when I travel, and Universal lets me travel to completely different worlds just by walking around! Among those worlds are three different Harry Potter lands, where we tried butterbeer in almost every form: cold, warm, ice cream, clotted cream, fudge, and crepe. The main one we missed was the frozen slushie version.

Here are my rankings:

6. Potted cream: Of the 6, this is the only one I wouldn’t have again. I was excited because clotted cream is such a British desert, but it just reminded me of glue.

5. Crepe: I actually really liked a few bites of the crepe, but it’s super sweet, so I don’t think I could have eaten much more.

4. Ice cream: On a cold day this would have been solid, but we had it in the evening when it was getting chilly. Also, I think it would work better as a soft serve.

3. Fudge: The block of butterbeer fudge was quite good. Very sweet, but that’s what I expect from fudge.

2. Cold: This is where the butterbeer flavor (butterscotch and shortbread) really shines. Again, very sweet, but bubbly and refreshing.

1. Warm: I’m completely surprised that this is my top pick, yet here we are. I loved the smell of the warm butterbeer, and it was creamy and delicious. I ordered it twice: Once to try, then again to use as creamer for coffee at Cafe L’air de la Sirène.

Have you tried butterbeer? What’s your favorite version?
