I’m currently reading the latest book in the Legends and Lattes series, Brigands and Breadknives. It’s an interesting departure from the first two cozy fantasy books, both of which centered around singular places (a café and a bookshop). I don’t mind at all—Travis Baldree weaves a great story no matter the setting.
I happen to be reading this novel right after dining in multiple thematic settings at Universal Epic Universe (several set in the Harry Potter universe, and several set in the How to Train Your Dragon universe). I found that I really enjoyed the idea of dining in another world, especially if the food and drinks are tasty.
We have an abundance of amazing cafes and coffee shops in St. Louis, so I don’t see an actual need to add to the mix. But surely I’m not the only one to read about a fictional place and wish I could hang out there for a while, whether it’s a café, coffee shop, bar, chocolatier, bakery, etc.
Have you ever encountered a setting like this in a book, movie, or TV show?
