I read a total of 27 books in 2025, and today I’m going to share my top 10 favorites. In my opinion, every single one of these books is excellent, and I recommend all of them. I’ll mark them as standalone books, books in a series, or novellas, depending on what you’re currently looking for.

- Shattering Peace by John Scalzi (series)
- The Lodge by Kayla Olson (standalone)
- Revenge of the Tipping Point – Malcolm Gladwell (nonfiction)
- Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins (series)
- The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst (series)
- Isles of the Emberdark by Brandon Sanderson (series)
- Swords, Cider, and Other Distractions by Brian McClellan (novella)
- Heir of Storms by Lauryn Hamilton Murray (series)
- Livesuit by James S.A. Corey (novella)
What are a few of your favorite books you read in 2025t? Are there any specific books you’re looking forward to in 2026?
I really enjoyed reading The Liveship Traders by Robin Hobb last year, as well as Fevre Dream by George R.R. Martin. I did try to read Stormlight Archive but couldn’t get into it—maybe I should give it another chance.
As for this year I’m planning to finish up Realm of the Elderlings, and you know, The Winds of Winter if it ever comes out, haha.
Thanks for sharing those books!
Old Man’s War is the book that introduced me to Scalzi but interestingly I now prefer any book I read of his over the Old Man’s War series which I did not continue. He’s such a good writer. This year I read Starter Villain of his and it was so much fun.
I have heard a lot about Revenge of the Tipping Point but I’ve not really into reading non-fiction but I’m still intrigued (haven’t read the original).
Thanks for sharing.
My three favorite books in 2025 were; 1. “Where the Crawdads sing” – absolutely beautifully written. The funniest and yet saddest book was 2.”The happiest refugee” and 3. “Project Hail Mary” – up there with Andy Weirs The Martian. Looking forward to the movie this year in 2026.
Thanks for sharing these picks! I love Project Hail Mary and am super excited about the movie.
