I loved quite a few TV shows in 2025, and I’ve broken down my list of 5-star shows into a few categories.
As for completely new shows in 2025, here are my favorites:
- The Residence (post): If you love Knives Out and/or The Afterparty, I highly recommend this murder mystery.
- St. Denis Medical (post): I’m endlessly delighted by this 22-minute comedy that resembles The Office meets Scrubs.
- Murderbot (post): I knew this show would look great, but I didn’t know how funny it would be.
- Alien Earth (post): This sci-fi endeavor among the most serious shows on my list, but I was hooked on every minute of it.
- Haunted Hotel (post): It’s rare that I’d love an animated show this much, but it really is a delight. It’s essentially Ghosts meets Rick & Morty or Gravity Falls.
- Pluribus (post): I love how much this show does with such a weird hive mind concept in just 9 episodes. I also recommend the accompanying podcast!
Here are shows that were on seasons beyond the first. It’s amazing that these shows keep getting better–that isn’t easy. Here’s a few of them that I loved:
- The Rehearsal (season 2)
- Squid Game (final season)
- Ghosts (latest and current seasons)
- Survivor (season 48)
- Top Chef (season 22)
- A Man on the Inside (season 2)
- What We Do in the Shadows (season 5)
- Fisk (season 3)
- Deal or No Deal Island (season 2): This has one of the most thrilling finales of any competition show I’ve ever seen.
Here are some slightly older shows that I watched for the first time in 2025:
- Kevin Can F Himself (all seasons)
- Yellowjackets (all seasons)
