Yesterday we finished watching the final episode of The Copenhagen Test, a spy thriller series on Peacock produced by and starring Simu Liu.
The show starts with the lead character given a tough choice in a flashback: save a foreign child or save a woman from his country (whom he has been ordered to save).
The show actually uses flashbacks quite often to reveal recent or distant information. Sometimes they help to reveal the story from a different angle, and other times they provide key information about a character’s past. I liked this.
The main hook of the show is that Liu’s eyes and ears have been hacked by an unknown entity. They can see what he sees and hear what he hears. The intriguing elements are what Liu and his clandestine government organization do with this information after they learn of it.
Overall, I really liked the show. It’s a snappy 8 episodes that kept me guessing and deciphering the layers. It’s really well written, with characters openly questioning the same things the audience is wondering/doubting. Liu is great in the lead, as are the supporting actors, including Melissa Barrera.
Let me know what you think if you watch The Copenhagen Test!
