Have You Watched Company Retreat? (My Thoughts)

Who knew that a prank show could be about kindness, empathy, and compassion?

I loved the original Jury Duty show, so I was curious about this new season. Could they really pull it off again? After finishing this season’s 8 episodes, my answer is a resounding yes.

The premise of the show is that it is contrived and scripted, with everyone on the show a professional actor except for one person. That person, Anthony, believes that he is on a real company retreat with real people. But he isn’t. Not at all.

This may sound like a cruel joke on Anthony, but it’s actually quite the opposite: He is the hero of the story. The brilliance of it is that even though the script and actors steer Anthony towards heroic moments (and many funny scenes), it’s Anthony who choses time after time to stick up for what’s right and to care for these near-strangers. It’s incredibly touching to see humanity at its best.

If you want to laugh, cry, and believe in the goodness of people, I highly recommend Company Retreat. I hope they keep finding creative ways to make this show.

Have you watched this (or anything like this)? What did you think?
